Today’s focus Jeremiah 29:11

That is All I Need –

What do we need today? Seriously what is it that we need? I have had times in my life when my wants outweighed my needs.

I can remember a time as a young boy when things weren’t going my way that I decided to run away. I slipped off taking with me a sleeping bag and a can of baked beans. After all I would need something to eat. I remember getting to the neighbor’s back porch and taking up my residence there I thought this would be the perfect place. Soon into my venture, I became hungry. It was time to eat my can of baked beans.

It was at this moment that I realized that I would surely starve as I had no way to get into the baked beans. I hadn’t brought a can opener. What I needed was there to satisfy my immense hunger, was right there but I had not way to open the can. I think it was then I realized that running away was not for me for little boys with a perpetual appetite and returned home.

We live our lives seeing what is there, what God has planned for us but we don’t think we have a way to receive or even acquire that gift that God is giving us. We continue to plot and plan how we are going to get what we want without realizing God has provided all that we need.

Read Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”. Now think – God’s plans that will give me hope, that will supply my needs, satisfy my hunger, remove doubt and lay out the plan that will prosper my soul. All I must do is receive and be faithful.

For the one who needs to hear this today, stop wasting your time in being satisfied with the things of this world and become satisfied in all that God wants to do in your life today.
