FROM THE EDGES – MORNING DEVOTIONAL
Today’s focus Jeremiah 29:12
A Plan to Last
Pastor Calvin Cook
Being a visionary goal-oriented person, I am always seeing the place I want to be. Dreaming and visioning of those things which are possible. One of the first realizations In this mind-set, what is the plan that will get me to the place that I think or envision as the destination.
Many times, our concept of vision is within what we know best, what we have become accustomed to, regulated by, sometimes even held prisoner by. In the vision I have for myself, for my marriage, the church, business, and everything that I have a passion about, is that God wants to take us too so much more. More than we can ever ask for or even imagine (Ephesians 3:20). But what is the starting point, what is the first part of this plan to reach the goal?
Jeremiah 29:12 gives the answer “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” It begins with those talks with God. Not just talking but listening. Some thoughts of the prayer might me: “Lord is this goal or hope from you, or is it me in the way again?” Now listen! “Lord how will I make your plans for me become reality “ Now listen ! “Lord – I am calling out to you for direction” Now Listen! And keep on listening through the day and your life because as Jeremiah 29:12 directs as you pray, God listens, but how do you respond to God’s answer.
Are you looking at a plan that will last or are you just seeking your wants to be met? Praying for you today!
After note – As I am re-reading this devotional – the words of the song “He has good plans” is playing on my morning random worship playlist. God is always at work, always speaking, and all we have to is listen.
