Morning Devotions – Walking the Way!
Scripture focus – Jeremiah 31
Walking the way of the Lord is tough. We want to, we really want to, but there are so many distractions. In our trying to be faithful to the call of the Lord but more to walking within the will of God. We don’t like to talk or think much about that walk because it causes sacrifice of self, surrender of self will.
As the verses of Jeremiah 31 open, it reads – “At that time, declares the Lord, I will be the God of all………. And they shall be my people.” The first stop must be the realization of a personal God. I believe God is saying to all of us, “I want you to know me. Not just have heard about it, or used me, or had casual conversations with me but really know”
From intamacywithgod.com “The Hebrew word for truly knowing God is “yada” (ידע). It appears in the Old Testament and is often translated into English as “know” or “knowledge”. However, this Hebrew term goes beyond mere intellectual understanding; it encompasses a deeper, intimate connection and personal experience with God.”
This relationship becomes more than just the occasional thought or visit but instead a way of life. Jeremiah 31:3 goes on to say “The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued my faithfulness to you.”
For us today the Lord is here, present, and just not because God has to be. Because God wants to be. That God’s love is everlasting !
How do we respond? With a realization of that presence of God, and a focus of complete and utter dependence on the direction God is leading us. By surrendering everything. Loving God, the way God loves us.
Walking the way is tough but we don’t have to go alone. May you feel the mighty presence of God in your life today.
