Morning Devotions – Allowing God !
Scripture focus – Jeremiah 31: 3-6
What are you allowing God to do? What are you not allowing God to do?
So much of what is happening in our lives is what we have allowed God to do. Have you allowed God to have his way. I know we have been given free will. But even in receiving free will, we must allow faith to be more powerful than self.. Without the discernment of faith working, we will continue on either an even unchanging walk or head in an opposite way of faith in God.
What change will come in your life today. Will you allow this change to build you up further in your love of God and separate you further.
Jeremiah 31:3 “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” It seems we experience temporal things without the everlasting hope that is given to us through the kindness of God. We succumb to a multitude of things and vices that further separate us from that love of God which is everlasting.
Today marks a week until the start of Lent. Are you preparing to celebrate a Holy lent where you will sacrifice those things which have kept you from that good and perfect will of God. Or will you wait till next Wednesday and give up something that will not make an everlasting eternal difference in your life.
One of the things in not allowing God to work, move, love, and show kindness is we don’t prepare. We don’t prepare for the journey ahead. It’s like going on a two-week vacation and not taking your suitcases with you. That is how we live our lives we are on a journey, and we have not allowed God to go with us.
The love of God and receiving the love of God will change that!
May the journey we are on be complete with God’s presence. For this day and the days ahead, we pray –
Lord, show me the way! Amen
