Preparing for Worship ~From the Edges

Lent – Day 22
Preparing Hearts for Worship

Scripture focus Job 11:13-19 ESV
If you prepare your heart, you will stretch out your hands toward him. If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, and let not injustice dwell in your tents. Surely then you will lift up your face without blemish; you will be secure and will not fear. You will forget your misery; you will remember it as waters that have passed away. And your life will be brighter than the noonday; its darkness will be like the morning. And you will feel secure, because there is hope; you will look around and take your rest in security. You will lie down, and none will make you afraid; many will court your favor.‭‭
Preparing our hearts for worship, requires a couple of things.

First, it is coming to the understanding that worship is not something we go to, it should become a lifestyle. That as Job shares this morning is a place that we can stretch out our hands, drive the iniquity from our hearts, and just be in the presence of God.

Second, worship should be a place where we feel secure in God’s presence. Not a place of frustration or apprehension, but a place where our hearts can be poured out before the Lord and we can receive all that God desires for you, to pour into us not just in that moment, but into our lives.

This morning, regardless if you are in a place of desperation, or a place of hopefulness, we seem to waver between the two places often, may you prepare your heart for worship. Not the function of worship, but the clearing your heart of iniquity to a glorious place of reconciliation.

Praying – Bring me into your holy space, May I never desire to leave. Focus me Lord on you. In Jesus name I pray ~ Amen
