Lent – Day 27 ~ Claim It

Scripture focus John 15:7-11 ESV If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

I feel the Holy Spirit saying this morning to not get lost in what you are searching for. Long pause! What am I searching for? I think that the search is centered on developing and building a relationship with Jesus. Moving from the sinfulness of humanity into all that God desires for me. I’m not sure if sometimes I don’t get lost in the practice of searching.

My personal devotion life is probably better right now than it has ever been in my life. I have made a covenant to pray, read and study scripture, meditate, worship, serve, preach, teach, and by all means be centered in God’s will. I know the Gospel but is there still something I am missing.

I guess it all comes down to this. I know that I know I know but have I claimed it? Maybe you need to ask yourself the same question. Have you claimed it? I mean if we are living out the words of Jesus in John 15;7 “if you abide in me and I abide in you, ask whatever you want and you will receive it”. Hmmm? Awkward pause and deep breath! Does this mean that all the praying, scripture reading, service I have done has gone in one side and out the other and I havn’t received or claimed it for the change I should be desiring in my life. That in all things the Father God is glorified.

This morning this is what I’m desiring- to not allow the process of attaining the relationship with Jesus we are longing for to prevent me from realizing the full glory of the Lord. May I be worthy of the discipleship status I claim.

Lord have mercy , Christ have mercy!
