Passing through the Waters –

Scripture focus – Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
As I am preparing my heart for this weekend of Worship, I have been reminded of what I have been through this week. Visiting with the sick, sitting in hospital waiting rooms, being in Bible Studies, meetings, making decisions, business concerns, dealing with crisis, planning, and preparing. So much is behind us – but so much more is before us. The reason we need – I stress the word – need Worship. We need those moments through the day of sanctuary, prayer, and worship. Nothing will ever be able to compete with the time we spend in genuine worship.
In my travels this past week, I passed through and by overwhelming waters. As the areas I was in had been affected by heavy rains and runoff. The creeks, ditches, rivers overflowing their banks and coming into people’s, basements, yards, and the roadways traveled. High water concerns us, the threat of flooding brings much fear to those who have lived through flooding.
I am being reminded of the line of the prayer we prayed yesterday from Jonah’s prayer ; “The engulfing waters of life threaten to consume me, may I once again see you as my Lord my God.” This prayer confirms an earlier statement. For all we have gone through, we need worship, we need to confess our need for more of God. Not just in time of trouble, but all the time! We receive more of God through complete surrender and devotion, we need, I need more of God. We find that more many times in Worship. Prepare your heart to receive all that God wants to do in your life.
