From the Edges – Morning Devotions
Pastor Calvin Cook
April 20, 2024 – Expectancy
Scripture focus – Proverbs 23:17-18 Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD. 18 There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
My sanctuary this morning is the bottom bunk in Hickory Lodge at Camp Alleganey. I am with the youth of the church at a youth retreat for the next few days. I am with others am seeking God to speak and to be made know to us in a very powerful way. This morning there is an expectancy.
This expectancy is my prayer for all who will engage God. It is one thing to engage God it is an entirely different thing to seek God. We all to often seek God to get us out of trouble but we do not then engage God for the long haul of life. We lean into the unknown or the way of the world which often leads to further destruction for ourselves and everything that we are about.
This morning, I have an expectancy. I have an expectancy after listening to the prayers of our youth last evening of their desire to meet God. I have sincere hope in the generation that is being raised up. I have an expectancy that all people will get it together and turn back to God, not as an escape plan but as the best life possible plan.
We already know that distractions come in many ways and to fulfill the expectancy that God has for us for all of us, it will take focus. Focus to see God at work, see God moving, seeing that our deliverance is already at hand. We just have to accept it.
It begins with complete surrender to Jesus to have this expectancy fulfilled and living a life of discipleship and focus on God.
Be praying for this move of God with expectancy and I’ll be praying for you.
