Memorial Day – Remember

Scripture focus – Psalm 143:5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands.

On this Memorial Day morning, I am thinking about many people who have helped to shape my life. From my parents, mentors, neighbors, friends, teachers, Pastors, and many others who shaped my life as a person. Many of those who I think of today are people who I never met, but I have been keenly aware of the inheritance of the ancestors.

I am also pausing to give thanks for the guidance and direction of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Knowing that where I am is because I said yes – to Jesus, yes to following, yes to being a disciple, yes to being led by the Holy Spirit. I know there have been times when I messed up and still will be times of un-faithfulness, but through the power of atonement and redemption – God will always bring me back to the place I need to be and will do the same for you.

Staying put, or in the same place we have always been not what God is desiring for us. We need direction! The Holy Spirit provides that direction, walking with, guiding, pulling, pushing, carrying us to the best life possible. Unfortunately, there is also guidance that comes from the evil one that takes us away from our destination of completeness within God’s kingdom. The choice is yours!

Today as we are in a remembrance mode, I would ask you to hear the words from the Apostle Peter as he wrote to the early believers “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” 2 Peter 1:3-4
Psalm 143:10 is a great prayer for us to pray every day – “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground! In Jesus mighty name I pray Amen
