The Presence of Comfort –

Scripture focus – John 14:26  But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. (ECV)

We are living in very anxious times. The anxiousness changes as a result of our decision as to what we are focusing on. Creating imagery of peace and stillness in our lives and focusing on those things which bring peace and contentment will be much more soothing to the soul than all of the chaos we tend to bring into our lives.

The thought from Psalm 23:2 “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul” is the feeling I desire and the comfort I need. As we read and enter the quietness of the Lord, we definitely can see and feel that it is the Holy Spirit sent to us to do exactly that. To lead us into a place of comfort.

The reminder is this, that the presence of comfort of the Holy Spirit can only be felt when we choose to receive and focus on those things that will calm the angry waves of our lives. That we don’t live in the negative of the world but the positive of the Holy Spirit’s presence.

Prayerfully this morning, take a few minutes to sit quietly with the Lord, without saying anything, just listening. Just step to those quiet waters and set down in the green soft pastures of your life and just listen as the Holy Spirit speaks.
