From the Edges – Back to What is Important – Morning Devotional

Good Morning – I am back after a two week time of renewal and refreshment. I hope to share once again with you these morning devotionals. I am reminded this morning as I gather my thoughts and get back into the routine of everyday of the need to remember what is important. While we need companionship of others our hearts should be constantly be reminded of the companionship we need in Christ the Lord. Thanks for being on this journey and remember always who we are and who’s we are. We were bought with a price, and we are called to glorify God and share salvation with the world. But first we have to know it our self. Now on to the devotion.

From the Edges – A Morning Devotional

Find what is Lost

Scripture focus – 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

In these powerful verses, Peter reminds us of our identity and calling as believers. We are not just any group; we are a “chosen people,” handpicked by God Himself. This selection is not based on our merit but on God’s boundless love and grace. As a “royal priesthood,” we are called to offer our lives in service to God and others, bridging the gap between heaven and earth through our prayers, actions, and love.

Being a “holy nation” means we are set apart for God’s purposes, living lives that reflect His holiness. This calling is both an honor and a responsibility. We are to live differently, not conforming to the patterns of this world, but transforming it with the light of Christ.

God’s grace is at the heart of this transformation. We were once in darkness, unaware of our true identity and purpose. But God, in His infinite mercy, called us into His “wonderful light.” This light reveals the truth of who we are: God’s special possession, dearly loved and valued.

Living in this light means walking in God’s grace daily. It means acknowledging that we once were not a people, disconnected and wandering, but now we are the people of God, connected to Him and each other in profound ways. Grace has brought us from a place of not receiving mercy to a place where mercy abounds.

As we go about our day, let us remember our identity in Christ. Let our lives declare the praises of the One who has called us out of darkness. Let us live in the grace we’ve received, extending that grace to others, and shining God’s marvelous light into every corner of our world.

PRAYER – I pray once again for the reset I need for my heart, mind, and soul – Lord remind me of who I am in you. Amen
