PRAY OCTOBER – DAY 2 PRAYER for STRENGTH

31 Days of Scripture, Reflections, and Prayers to bring us closer to the move of God in our midst.
Prepared by Pastor Calvin Cook
Day 2: Prayer for Strength
Scripture: Isaiah 40:29-3129 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.

I know there is a great cloud that seems to be surrounding us today. We are captured not only by images on media but by the words of others of the devastation that exist all around us. In recent days we have been concerned with friends and families in the Southeast who have been affected by Hurricane Helene. There are many who are waiting to receive care from the effects of the storm.

We see it in the sick, spend a day in the Emergency Room. After 12 hours yesterday in the Emergency Room, I found myself in a constant state of prayer for the hurting but more for those who were rendering care. I found myself praying regularly “Lord gives him/her strength”. I realized many times that in this rural community we are isolated from many things, but not from the situations of sickness, depression, loneliness, addictions, mental health, and so much more. But more importantly I seen Jesus through the care of the care giver. Whether they knew it or not they were being the hands of Jesus and healing power.

We do receive strength if only we will receive. God knew and still does today just as God did in the days of Isaiah that there was a great feeling of being overwhelmed by the things of the world even by the things that were brought on by the people by their own choices.

This is the same today – the need to find strength to be an overcomer of all things before us. Let me be clear in saying this “WE MUST DEPEND ON THE STRENGTH OF GOD”. The mighty God who saves us and resurrects us from the pit of despair.

Help us Lord to realize that physically, mentally, and spiritually I need you to help me find holy healing. As we pray:

Father, renew my strength as I wait on You. Help me to soar like an eagle, to run and not grow weary, and to walk and not be faint. In Jesus mighty name I pray – Amen
