Day 4: **Prayer for Wisdom**

Scripture: James 1:5-8 (NLT)  If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

This morning as I come into this time of devotion of prayer, my first prayer is to be overwhelmed by God. We say, we proclaim that we desire more of God, to be able to walk in the ways of God and be filled by the Holy Spirit. However, it seems that after we leave those moments of prayer and devotion that we quickly forget that which has been given us and the way that our souls have been comforted by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Heartfelt prayer to God should also bring redemption. As the sins, trials, and turmoil that we have left behind should be filled with more of God. James the brother of Jesus reminds us in this morning’s scripture focus of the gateway of prayer to God to ask for all things. There is nothing to insignificant or major that we should feel we can’t bring before the altar of the Lord. There is also a reminder in James 1:6 to not wavier. Vividly we see us on a raging sea being tossed back and forth, this describes life.

Friends we need more of God in everything. We need to allow the things that are tearing us down to be replaced by that of God which will build us up. This will come by praying for wisdom. Not the wisdom of the world but the wisdom of God. The teachings of scripture, the hope of a brighter and better future. This morning I believe that we are shown in many ways the wisdom of God, we just don’t receive it !

We need to know and experience the will of God and what God desires to do – leading and growing to know the right things that God desires to do and leads us to.

-Prayer: God, I ask for wisdom in all my decisions. Please give it generously and without finding fault. May I be transformed this day. In Jesus might and powerful name – Amen
