Day 6: Prayer for Protection

Scripture: Psalm 91:1-2 “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.””

There are many things that we can do to protect us physically. We can build strong walls around us, wear armor of any kind to shield us, even take up weapons to defend us. All of this is done to protect us and our property physically. But the greater question is what are we doing to protect us spiritually?

One of the main things that is described in our scripture for this morning, is to choose where we are living, spiritually. We have a choice to make as to whether we will seek protection in the shelter in God, or in the things that will bring us harm. One of the weapons that we have to protect us, is prayer. At any time, we can call upon the name of the Lord find comfort for our weakness and be protected in his care.

The question would be asked this morning where are you residing? Have you come to the realization that God is the true, and only refuge and fortress, are we trusting completely in God without being sweet by the things of the world that are only meant to harm us.

This morning, I want to encourage you that wherever you are to seek shelter in the Lord. Seek shelter in your prayer time, in worship, in reading scripture, and all you do and by whatever way you must protect yourself spiritually, do it! The prayer is easy to pray for protection, but do we desire the protection that God gives?

Prayer: Almighty God, I dwell in Your shelter. Be my refuge and fortress, and keep me safe from harm. I pray in Jesus name, Amen
