Day 7: Prayer for Forgiveness

Scripture: 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Before we can experience forgiveness, we must engage in confession. So often we come before the Lord seeking blanket forgiveness for the sins that we have committed. But each area of our sinfulness needs to include redemption. Moving from those sins and never returning also become the core of forgiveness.

The main way to experience forgiveness, is to surrender the sins to the Lord. This becomes one of the main reasons why we have Jesus. That Jesus came to this earth, walked in human form, was tortured, died, and rose again so that we might experience the forgiveness of sins. This is something that we cannot do on our own. It is because of Jesus and him carrying our sins to the cross as a sacrifice we gain the best life possible.

There is a song if He Carried the Weight of the World, speaks to me this morning. “If He carried the weight of the world, upon His shoulders, I know, my brother, that He will carry you. If He carried the weight of the world, upon His shoulder I know, my sister, that He will carry you.”

Part of forgiveness, the main part, is surrender and letting go. May I realize the trueness of unrighteousness is not being right with God in my soul and experiencing forgiveness first for that.

Prayer:  Lord, I confess my sins to You. Thank You for Your promise to forgive and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Thank you for carrying the load for me to the cross. In Jesus name I pray, Amen
