PRAY OCTOBER
31 Days of Scripture, Reflections, and Prayers to bring us closer to the move of God in our midst.
Day 16: Prayer for Patience
Scripture: James 5:7-8 7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.
My dear Brothers and Sisters, what have you been waiting patiently for? One of the prayers of the church that has been prayed for is revival. Revival to the outer most parts of the world. Most importantly that revival would break out of every church, small group, Sunday school class, prayer group, family, and person. However, is this a unified prayer of all God’s people?
As I think on this scripture, I am being filled with a sense of assurance that Prayers for Revival will lead to revival will lead to Response will lead to Redemption. Once this becomes the nature and core value of the church and community, we will then experience what we have been waiting and praying patiently for. What Jesus has been waiting patiently for, a true return to the Lord.
One of the components that will have to happen is what has been called “putting feet to our prayers.” To becoming the disciples once again who hear the words of Jesus “to go into the world !
As we wait for the seeds that have been planted begin to sprout and grow, we will have to seek out ways to nurture and fertilize with the power and authority of the Holy Spirit at work within us. Revival isn’t just about bringing people to a place of seeking forgiveness but also about being disciples who disciple, followers who follow regardless of where we called to go and who we are called to minister to.
In the midst of everything and the time in between of prayers being raised and prayers being answered we will have to stand firm in our faith, keep our hearts and minds set on Jesus because we do know that the Lord is near. May we see what we have all been called to be, in our lifetime.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be patient and stand firm, for Your coming is nearby. In anxious times, Lord help me to see impatience as the evil ones tools. May I patiently endure everything just as Jesus patiently endured the cross for me. In Jesus name – Amen

PATIENTLY WAITING
