Day 21: Prayer for Faithfulness

Scripture: Proverbs 3:3-4 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;  bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name    in the sight of God and man.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer believed that faith should find its way into love and hope without relying on a sovereign imagination. Thinking this morning if I had no real conception of an all surrounding God; what would I believe in?  Hebrews tells us that faith is the substance of all things hoped for of all things yet to come. Then asking the question; What are you hoping for? Most times our hope is for material and earthly things. The things that will pass away are all things that we will not take with us when we leave this earth. With this idea faith should become a deeper look into our lives and truly what is important.

Our scripture from Proverbs reminds us today that what is important is love and faithfulness. Notice faithfulness, the action of faith, of living out what you believe, and what you were meant to be by the creator. Are we living up to those expectations? Scripture says we will keep good favor and a good name in the sight of God. That is what I am striving for!

I do realize that there is temptation and sinfulness to encounter, but I also have the faith to know there is plenteous redemption. This morning, I don’t think we should stick around our sinful past but move into the glorious future of having faith to know that God is with us, guiding us, loving us, and protecting us. May we have faith to do the same for God.

Prayer: Lord, help me to bind love and faithfulness around my neck, so that I may win favor and a good name in Your sight. Praying in Jesus name for direction in my life – Amen
