Day 5 ~ Soul Care is Sheltering in Jesus
Psalm 32:7: You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
Do you remember playing hide and seek as a child? I was never very good at it. It seems that I always returned to the same hiding place where everyone already knew I would go. I was easy to be found!
Often, we don’t find the care for our soul that we need, because we constantly return to the same thing that brings distress instead of comfort. Even when Jesus has constantly reminded us in scripture to come to him -we do not! We choose other things that bring comfort to our soul and even cause further damage instead of hearing Jesus speak, “come to me, I got this, I died for this” we hide or run off in the other direction.
One of my favorite Charles Spurgeon quotes is “we live by clinging to Jesus.” in the day before us, instead of trusting in the things of the world, may we run to the one who gives life, may we hide within the care of a God, who loves us, and cares for us. This will truly be what satisfies our soul and gives our soul the care it needs.
Prayer- Lord, may you become my shelter and resting place. Amen
