Day 6 – Soul Care – Don’t Shrink
Scripture focus – Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
I love how God’s word speaks to you from the chronicles of time new truths that meet us where we are when we need it most. This happened last evening in our Wednesday evening Bible Study at the East Kane Church. As we are studying through Hebrews it has been amazing how different parts have spoke to our present conditions.
Where we are in Chapter 10, the writer of Hebrews was referring to the Old Testament Prophet Habakkuk and his call from God to share the message that the righteous shall Live by His Faith. Notice the type of faith we are called to live by – HIS Faith. The 2nd chapter of Habakkuk gives some really clear instruction. The clarity comes in understanding this morning. Soul care comes from living by HIS faith, to not become puffed up in our own selves and present conditions, and to receive all that God wants to do in our lives in the present, regardless of present conditions and circumstances. If Habakkuk was speaking today, he would probably be saying, “Avoid getting sucked into the vacuum of your present condition and thoughts.”
The writer of Hebrews in the scripture that is shared this morning, re-enforces this ancient prophecy that is still living and active today to not shrink back or be sucked into that vacuum and be destroyed but to move forward with a greater faith, a greater relationship with God, so that your soul is preserved.
I want to encourage you today to go deeper with your faith in God. Trust in the unchanging grace of God and allow God to do more in your life than you can ask or imagine. Go deeper, take the next step in your devotional life, your worship life, in the way you serve Jesus, in your everyday walking around life make the necessary changes to not “shrink back”.
It comes back to this – no one will care for you, will love you, will have your best interest at hand like Jesus will. It is truly in our own soul where we meet and understand this love of God. Then we show it in the way we love God. The second most important idea for preservation of our soul is to not shrink in our relationship with Jesus.
Prayer – Oh Lord I pray – to be drawn closer in my relationship with you for the healing of my soul. I desire to see You – Lord speak to me and show me your way for the preservation of my soul. In Jesus mighty name I pray – Amen
