Finding God’s Deliverance while caring for our Soul – Morning Devotional

Soul Care – Day 11

Prepared by Pastor Calvin Cook – 11-14-2024

Soul Care in God’s Deliverance – Part 2

Scripture focus: 2 Samuel 22:1-4 “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.

God’s deliverance for our soul comes in many different forms and fashions in our life. If God was predictable, we would have no need to continue to keep our life and our soul in check and in accordance with what God desires to do.

Caring for our soul and receiving God’s protection is not a “one size fits all.” I believe this is evident when David was preparing for battle against the Phillistine giant Goliath. The world gave him armor to wear (1 Samuel 17:39-40) but God gave him so much more in so much less. David experienced a faith and trust in God and God’s deliverance that few experience. Seriously look at the battle that was one with a few smooth stones, actually just 1 and a sling shot. To me the interesting part of the giant’s demise was this, it was the giant’s own sword that was used to finish the battle.

David, a young boy, with a sling shot and a few stones took down and defeated this reign of terror. Don’t miss the point, it was done all of it in the name of the Lord. Is what we are doing, how we are living, how even we are taking care of our soul is in the name of and for the glory of the Lord.

Here are examples of David returning to the heart of God I believe we need to embrace today –

1 – Remember past deliverances by God. God brings us through so much that we give little thanks for or even acknowledge.

2 – Reject that which the world wants to give us as armor and rely on God’s gifts, wisdoms, and provisions.

3—Declare God’s power always and trust in His deliverance.

Finally, this morning – answer the question between you and the Holy Spirit speaking into your life this morning. How is it with your soul? What areas of your life need repair? Are you accepting all that God wants to do in your life?

Pray – Lord I pray that I am still enough to listen as you speak into every situation. In Jesus name Amen

If these devotions are speaking to you, please like and share. Also please reach out with thoughts, questions or request. Praying for peace in your life this day and always.
