How Is It With Your Soul?

Refreshing Our Soul with God’s Nourishment
Scripture: Isaiah 43:19 (NIV) “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:19 (one of my favorite verses of scripture) reminds us of God’s promise to bring newness and transformation into our lives. This verse is a reminder that even in the dry and desolate places of our soul, God can create streams of refreshment and life. Our soul, much like a garden, requires constant care and proper fertilizer to do well and produce fruit. The message for us is to ensure that what we are feeding our soul with comes from God and not from sources that lead to spiritual dehydration or even death.
To care for our soul means being intentional about what we allow into our hearts and minds. Here are a few thoughts of what we need to do to experience refreshment and being changed to mirror Christ.
Daily Scripture Reading: Spend time each day reading the Bible. Let God’s Word be the primary source of nourishment. Reflect on His promises and allow them to shape your thoughts and actions.
Prayer and Meditation: Create a habit of prayer and meditation. Make a regular appointment with God and keep it. Spend quiet moments with God, seeking His guidance and allowing His peace to fill your heart.
Guard Your Influences: Be mindful of the media, conversations, and activities that you engage in. Which area do you spend more time with screen time or bible reading, prayer and worship.
Community and Fellowship: Surround yourself with fellow believers who encourage and support your spiritual growth. Engage in meaningful conversations and activities that draw you closer to God.
God is desiring to do an amazing new thing in each of us. Now it is up to us to receive it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the new things You are doing in our lives. May Your Spirit guide us in guarding our hearts and minds, and may we always seek to bring what is pure and holy into our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
