And It Came to Pass – Devotionals
The Turn Around God
Prepared by Pastor Calvin Cook
Scripture – Genesis 50:20 (KJV) But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save many people.
We begin by asking the question “What is God wanting to turn around in your life?”
I’m working on a series of sermons focusing on the life of Joseph from Genesis 37-50. This section of scripture is rich with lessons, and though we can’t cover everything in one devotional, stay tuned for our upcoming series, particularly on Genesis 50.
One of my favorite verses is Genesis 50:20: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.” After their father’s death, Joseph’s brothers seek forgiveness from Joseph, now a powerful man. Expecting retribution, they are met with forgiveness. Joseph’s response reminds us, “It’s okay; God was working in the background all along.”
We all face challenges, but how we respond matters. When we are in God’s will and seek Him wholeheartedly, we will emerge victorious. It can be tough in our human state, but faithfulness to God and perseverance allows Him to turn our struggles into good for His glory.
The hard part is maintaining faithfulness. We often get caught up in the worries of the present, focusing on things beyond our control. Instead, we should turn them over to God in prayer. Let’s examine our lives and honor God in all we do. His perfect will for us is to build a relationship grounded in holiness and righteousness. May we strive for that each day!
