Finding the Right Place

Scripture focus – Psalm 91:1-21Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

I recently had a call to visit someone who lived off the normal traveled roads in the area. It was in one of the places that you wouldn’t go to unless you had a reason. The person gave me very specific directions and ended the conversation with “Do not use a GPS or you will get lost. Addresses don’t work out here.”

Sometimes in life we must come to a point in our life where we truly know what we are looking for? This applies not only to our physical but as well to our mental, emotional, and most importantly our Spiritual. I realize we are all searching for something but is what we are searching for found in what we are devoting our time, thought, and attention to. The simple question would be, though harder to answer; Is what we are searching for within God’s plan and will for us?

I am feeling that we have become so accustomed to the “way things are” that we are not accepting or living out what God desires. The one and main thing God is desiring is relationship with us as our priority and it will be this that brings peace to our mind, body, and soul.

In recent days Psalms 91 has become a scripture of great comfort to me. The Psalmist states if I choose to dwell within the “shelter of the Most High”, I will find everything that I need. The King James version refers to the shelter as a “secret place”.  May we become humbled by the face that God has prepared a “secret place” for each of us to reside within His care. A place of protection, comfort, and rest for the weariness of all the trappings of the world.

The best closing words I have this morning is to remember, we are given clear instruction in how to find that shelter that we are longing for. We are given a companion in the Holy Spirit to guide us and advocate for us. Now all we have to do is follow the directions and not rely on something that will take us to the wrong place.
