Daily Devotional: Following Jesus From the Edges

It is 4:50 AM on Monday, February 10, 2025 – my day is beginning. I know that there is a busy week ahead, with much to do and focus on. But more than anything I am convinced of the need to go into that quiet space for my start with God. This is where I can be the most humbled and find respite for my soul. It actually changes my entire day.

Today is special, as it has been quite a weekend. I heard mightily from God this weekend that will be life changing. I heard and saw God speak. It all started after I had finished my agenda with God on Saturday morning, when the Holy Spirit drew me back in, and said “I have some more to say”. And speak the Spirit did. Through scripture mainly but then through a physical in my face lesson of what it is to listen, follow, and stand amazed at what God can and will do.

There is so much to share about the events of Saturday and Sunday, which I will go into later or to hear more of the story listen to my sermon from Sunday, February 9,2025 on the Kane Community Methodist Church Facebook or YouTube channel.

In this sermon I promised because I was running out of time to share with you some things I heard the Spirit speak into my life about allowing scripture to change our life. With the second question being to me and you, “are you following the direction of scripture?”

First item I want to share: As I begin this morning -Psalm 40:16-17 appears, “But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!” As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!”(ESV)

Something that is constantly confirmed is before anything else – Start your day with God. It will be life changing! Begin each morning with Prayer, reading Scripture, listening, journaling. Do it for yourself, don’t always be waiting for someone else to do it for you. Don’t allow the first thing to be looking at a screen. That is placing something else before God. Reflect on that early morning time with God throughout the day. Apply it’s lessons in all you do; work, in your family, in the church movement, or in your community, in your waking and in your sleeping.

This is the best I can do for my soul. This is the best I can do in discipling is to encourage and remind you it all begins between me and God and you and God, that personal relationship that continues to grow stronger every minute you are drawn closer to the love of God.

Can we make a covenant with each other – I will help you and you help me to become closer to God.
