Finding a Quiet Center

Scripture focus – Genesis 28:15 “Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
Though this devotion is not necessarily about Joseph where our focus has been, it is about one of Joseph’s ancestors, Jacob. In Genesis 28:15, Jacob finds himself in a place of uncertainty and fear. Fleeing from his brother Esau, he is alone, afraid, vulnerable, and unsure of his future. This is where God appears to him in a dream, reassuring Jacob of His presence, protection, and purpose. This divine encounter transforms Jacob’s fear into peace, anchoring his spirit in the assurance of God’s unwavering promise.
Today, in our fast-paced, chaotic world, we often find ourselves in situations that are like Jacob’s journey. We face uncertainty, anxiety, and the pressures of daily life, which can leave us feeling overwhelmed. I have more experience than I want to acknowledge of feeling overwhelmed. Yet, just as Jacob discovered, we too can find a quiet center in our turmoil through the presence of God.
Finding a quiet center requires us to pause and remember God’s promises. It means taking time to pray, meditate, and reflect. Just as God promised Jacob that He would never leave him, we are reminded that God’s presence is with us, guiding and sustaining us through every trial and triumph.
When we internalize this divine assurance, we can face our challenges with a calm and centered spirit. We can find peace knowing that God is with us, keeping us, and leading us back to the promises He has spoken over our lives.
