Putting Off – Some thoughts From the Edges

Putting Off the Important

Scripture focus – Hebrews 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Do you ever feel like the world is crashing in on you? Do you ever ask why? Have you received the answer? It seems as if we are always running and moving from one thing to another, without much hope for rest or chilling out.

Is it because of that sin of procrastination? I know we see this evidence in putting off paying a bill, studying for a test, and a list of others. How many times have we said tomorrow I am going to start exercising, show kindness to someone, do something beneficial, to only fall into the same rut of putting it off. Putting off the things we should be doing and replacing value with the things that really have no eternal purpose.

I thought this morning about what I am putting off in my relationship with God. Am I doing the things that I need to do to draw closer to God, like finding forgiveness for my sins, experiencing redemption, worship, being in the present of the Holy Spirit with my everything, living a life of holiness, sharing the gospel message with someone, or like everything else in my life, I am putting off the things that have value for other things that will only fill life with more desperation and isolation from the one who gives life.

Praying this morning to not only receive clear direction but to follow Jesus and the Holy Spirit’s leading with all my heart, mind, and soul allowing this holy presence to change me and keep me focused on that which is important.

Don’t wait until it is to late!
