Key Verse: “I will gather you.” (Isaiah 43:5)
We have heard God’s message, but now we must be ready to receive it and respond.
In our Bible Study last night, we reflected on the messages God’s people have received throughout history. The central message, shared since the beginning of time, has been to come to God. And if we’ve strayed, the call is to return. This message has been communicated in various ways, sometimes gentle, and other times more forceful—like the plagues on Egypt—especially when the people resisted God’s invitations.
The prophets, including Isaiah and Jeremiah, were messengers who boldly delivered the word God gave them. They spoke clearly and directly. Isaiah 43:3-7 offers a powerful invitation, reminding us that God is calling us to Him or calling us back. This invitation continues throughout the Bible and is echoed in Jesus’ earthly ministry, inviting us to receive salvation and commit to a life of discipleship. Ultimately, this message is fulfilled in the prophecies of Revelation, which speak of the return of Jesus and the final gathering of His people.
At this point in history, it is crucial that we respond to God’s call—a call that has been issued for centuries. This is not a temporary commitment, but a continual, deep relationship with God, through the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The question we must ask ourselves is: Are we receiving and living out this call?
God’s promise to gather His people includes you! Jesus’ teachings echo the messages of the prophets. During Lent, we are reminded of Jesus’ journey to create a better way for us, and the need for us to respond to this call.
Reflection: How can you embrace your call back to the heart of God? Seek to build relationships that spark conversations and introduce Jesus to those around you.
