The Way to New Beginnings

Key Verse: “Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.” (Isaiah 43:10)

This past week, I had the privilege of reflecting on the message titled “The Way to New Beginnings.” The sermon, which I preached on Saturday night and Isaya Miller shared on Sunday morning, had a core theme that resonated deeply with me: the priority of making God first in our lives. Both versions of the message highlighted the importance of this in our journey toward a new beginning.

As I look into this new week, I realize how often we face a barrage of distractions, situations, and processes that pull us away from placing God at the center of our lives. These challenges often take us away from the core element of our faith—making God first. It’s easy to get distracted, and the attacks we face come from many sources: some self-induced, others caused by external circumstances, and some that seem to come out of nowhere. Yet, despite all these distractions, we often fail to prioritize God.

The question that lingers is: Do we listen to God first, before reacting to the things that try to pull us away from His call on our lives?

Have you humbled yourself before the Lord? Have you surrendered everything, waiting patiently for God’s response, no matter how long it takes? Or, are you trying to handle everything in your own strength and will, attempting to manage God’s will for your life?

To experience true peace and hope, we must first acknowledge in our heart, mind, and soul that there is only one God. Regardless of who we are, where we are, or what we have done, when we come to this place of surrender, we will experience the peace of knowing that God has done, is doing, and will continue to do a mighty work in our lives.

God’s word is eternal, and His promise to save stands forever. Jesus embodies this truth as the Word made flesh (John 1:14). His life and ministry reveal God’s unchanging plan to save His people.

Reflection: Meditate on the unchanging nature of God’s promises. How does Jesus’ fulfillment of these promises strengthen your faith?
