Key Verse: “There is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior.” Isaiah 43:11
The first commandment from Exodus 20:3: “You shall have no other gods before me.” Rather straight forward and plain yet grasping this commandment and applying it to our everyday lives, very difficult! We live in a world full of distractions and false saviors, God reminds us of His uniqueness. What is unique about God in your life? Is our priority in our relationship with God lumped in with everything else. Have we devoted such little time in our relationship with that we have become very nonchalant in our relationship with God. Is this relationship that is to be different lumped in with everything else and not set apart as it should be.
What is different about this relationship that we can’t or won’t experience it in any other way. It is Jesus! Like no other Jesus fulfills this uniqueness by offering the only path to eternal life. He saves not just from sin but also from hopelessness, offering a secure foundation. If it had not been for Jesus in my life who sought me and paid the price that I could experience eternal life as well as the best life on this journey through life, I would be nothing.
In our scripture from Isaiah 43 the Israelites are being reminded of all that had been done for them. That through it all God’s presence has been there. It is the same in our lives today. We sometimes like the Israelites don’t or won’t accept God’s presence and instead muddle through life’s twists and turns not seeking forgiveness and especially not experiencing redemption. It’s on us! God has always been there. God is still at work! We just have tried so many ways to satisfy our worldly desires that we leave little room for God to work.
Reflection: Recommit to trusting in God – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Scripture tells us that God’s love is new and fresh every day, now experience accept it and experience it !
