Trusting –
Pastor Calvin Cook
Key Verse: “I am God, and also henceforth I am he.” (Isaiah 43:13)
In this week’s sermons we spoke of a couple key pillars of our faith. The sovereignty of God which includes realizing that there is only God, one power, one authority, from beginning to end. Second that our relationship with God is a personal one, God knows us individually and likewise we are called to be in a personal relationship with God. Third: We are called to be witnesses which includes sharing God with all people. Being witness of what we are seeing God do and how God is working.
I realize amid all of this there is doubt. We doubt in ways that causes us to question our faith, doubt our place and calling, and slip into other theories and ideas. Yet, God remains!
This is not something new, it has been happening since the Garden, and it will likely happen until the end of time. But it can change. It can change, one person at a time, by realizing the authority that has been given to you through receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and accepting the baptism of the Holy Spirit. But it requires a no turn back or not seeking out other ways in our covenant with God. It will also require us to be witnesses of the Love of God not as a one-way relationship but as a genuine relationship where not only God expresses love to us but that we express our love to God, by knowing, growing, and going as witnesses of what God is doing.
God’s sovereignty is unmatched. He acts with purpose and power to save His people. Through Jesus, we see God’s ultimate authority over sin and death, reminding us that we can trust fully.
Reflection: Are you trusting in God’s authority over your life? During Lent, release control and trust in His power to save.
