What Jesus Brings

Pastor Calvin Cook –

John 21:25 “Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”

In the midst of everything that is going on around me – and in my life – it pauses me to think of Jesus’s after Resurrection visits and what was brought when He showed up.

There seems to me to be a common thread in each of the appearances of three essentials teachings for us to consider.

  1. Jesus appeared without an invitation. He became omni present, there without any fanfare, expectation, or even invitation of the disciples. Fulfilling the promise – ‘’I will be with you.” Jesus is still showing up in our lives today – do we recognize His presence and receive what Jesus is desiring to do.
  2. When Jesus appears, to Mary at the tomb, behind locked doors, to Thomas, on the road to Emmaus, at the lakeshore – Jesus brings peace. We read Jesus’s words in some of these remembrances “Peace be with you” (John 20:26) . Are we receiving the peace that Jesus brings.
  3. The third and this is the biggie, at least to me in this season of my life. Jesus instructed the disciples to go. Whether it was with the words “as the Father has sent me, I am sending you” (John 20:21) or the instruction at the lake shore – “Feed my sheep, “Feed my sheep, tend my lambs, feed my sheep.” (John 21:15-18). And it all culminates with the first call Jesus made to the disciples and now the last call “ Follow Me”. We are not to remain complacent, satisfied, or comfortable. We should be continually listening to this call and to go in Jesus name.

So here we are at a dawn of a new day. All that God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit will do in our lives will not be realized until we recognize God’s presence, receive the Peace of Christ that is offered, and follow so that we might share this hope and salvation with everyone.

All that Jesus has done, is doing, and will do cannot be experienced in these writings but can be experienced in our lives.   The ending results are up to you and what you are ready to receive and allow to grow in your life.
