What Has Been Happening? Do You Even Know?

What Has Been Happening In Your Life

Pastor Calvin Cook – June 23, 2025

Acts 4:31 “They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

What has been happening in your life lately? If it feels like the winds of change are blowing—or even, you feel like nothing is happing —you’re not alone. Just like the early church, we’re called to trust the Spirit’s leading in both triumph and uncertainty.

When the Spirit of God moved mightily in Acts 2, everything changed. Ordinary men and women were filled with a boldness, community flourished, needs were met, and the message of Jesus spread like wildfire. But it wasn’t easy—persecution came, choices had to be made, and courage was demanded.

That same Spirit is with us now. Still moving! Still filling us with a hope that transcends all understanding, still comforting, leading, and guiding us. It is happening in every corner of the earth. Yes, it is happening right in our own neighborhood. Are you feeling it?  In storefronts, under trees, in colleges and schools, at the board room table and kitchen tables and hospital bedsides—God is still at work through His people. God is moving mightily through the Holy Spirit.

The promise of Jesus is not just something that happened over 2000 years ago, it is happening now and happening right here where we are. It is present reality because of the promise “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). He’s with you when you feel your prayers aren’t being answered.  He’s with you when you’re misunderstood and feel persecuted. And He’s especially near when you step out in faith.

What has been happening in your life? Maybe more than you think. Maybe something sacred. The early church learned that God shows up in open hearts, courageous choices, and broken places—and when you are willing to receive without condition and complaint all that God wants to do in your life. The Holy Spirit will move mightily, always has and always will.
