CUT TO THE HEART – A surgery done by the HOLY SPIRIT –

Being Cut to the Heart
Acts 2:37 “When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’” (NIV)

In following up on yesterday’s message and preaching, here are a few more thoughts on Being Cut to the Heart. The worship service from Kane Community Methodist Church can be viewed on the You Tube Channel for Kane Community Methodist Church.

So let’s take a deep breath and jump in –

On the day of Pentecost, Peter’s Spirit-filled preaching cut to the hearts of the crowd. They had come to celebrate a festival, but they encountered the truth of Jesus—His death, resurrection, and lordship. It wasn’t simply another event, it was encountering God.
To be “cut to the heart” is to have the Holy Spirit expose the reality of our sin, our need for Jesus, and our need to respond. It is the moment we realize we cannot stay the same. The people didn’t argue or make excuses; they asked, “What shall we do?”

Maybe I need to repeat that: The people didn’t argue or make excuses; they asked, “What shall we do?”

Peter’s response was clear: “Repent and be baptized…in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

God is still cutting hearts today, not to bring further hurt but to heal, not to shame but to set free. Being cut to the heart means allowing the Spirit to reveal the places where we have drifted, where sin has hardened us, or where fear has kept us from full surrender. Or maybe to the place where we have never been before, in the center of God’s will.

We spoke in our study last night about the nudging of the Holy Spirit. This morning I ask;

Is there an area in your life where you feel the Holy Spirit nudging you to respond? Maybe it is surrendering your life to Jesus for the first time or helping someone else to do that.

What would it look like for you to say, “What shall I do?” today?
How might repentance and fresh surrender open you to the joy of God’s Spirit?

Allow yourself to be cut to the heart, so that you may experience the deep healing, forgiveness, and power that Jesus came to bring.

I am going to ask you to pray boldly today to seek and speak the Holy Spirit into every situation. For deliverance from sin, for relationships to be made better, to receive the nudges and leadings of the Holy Spirit. To pray for deliverance from the things that are binding you – addictions, health concerns, finances, family issues, and whatever it is that is consuming most of your attention.

One final and important thought – To be cut to the heart by the Holy Spirit – YOU have to allow it to happen!

Prayer: Lord, thank You for loving me enough to speak truth to my heart. Cut through any hardness or fear in me, and show me where I need to turn back to You. Help me to respond with repentance and faith, so I may walk in the fullness of Your Spirit. Amen.

Thanks for reading – may we be in touch to encourage each other .
