PRAYED and ANSWERED DANGEROUS PRAYER
July 15, 2025
Scripture – John 14:26 26 But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. (Amplified Version)
Here I am this morning, humbled, in awe, even a bit beat down, but definitely transformed!
Here is what happened – As the Advent Season began last December – I prayed that something would be different. I prayed that I would experience Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, the season between Easter and Pentecost including the Ascension in a very new, fresh, and different way. Looking back, I pause because for me it has been quite a journey. I have grown so much, acknowledged the powerful work of the Holy Spirit, and moved closer in my relationship with God in many different ways.
As I have been through several seasons in life of transformation and been drawn closer, I am not sure if I have experienced these changes with clearer understanding through the intensity that I have through these seasons – In this time I have become more devoted to prayer, not just praying, but listening. My whiteboard in my room has become a full board with goals, ambitions, hopes, visions and so much more. This has become a daily reminder of how God is speaking to me and that which is new that I am being called to.
In the middle of the white board is a prayer that I have shared with you before and share it again in this space –
Holy God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost –
I want you to intervene in everything-
Bring Deliverance –
Bring Hope,
Bring Direction
Thy will be done !
For Your Glory – and I add this morning
By Your Authority –
In Jesus Name I pray –
This has become for me one of the most dangerous prayers I have ever prayed – and I keep praying it – because of it I am experiencing the freshness of what the Holy Spirit is doing and desiring to do in my life, in my relationships, in our churches, in the community, in my business interests. I am truly in awe how new creation is happening every day through fresh vision. I also realize not all see it, feel it, or are experiencing it. There are those who are doubting it and even complaining about it. But I can’t do anything about that except release it to the work and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Here is the dangerous part of the prayer –
“I want you to intervene in everything”
Did I just say that and pray that again. Am I willing to surrender everything and that it is all for God’s glory – for God’s purpose -. This might set me aside or set me down, but it definitely will set me apart, and to some that is uncomfortable. But regardless for everything, it must be for God’s glory – I and you are here for that clear purpose, and many times that is where the struggle begins.
Romans 8 is such an important chapter in the Bible for living into the fullness of Christ especially with respect to this morning thoughts verses 26 and 27 become so important –
“26 In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words. 27 And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because the Spirit intercedes [before God] on behalf of God’s people in accordance with God’s will. (AMP VERSION)
So, in this next season of life with a heart full of hope and a renewed mind filled with vision, I will be praying for endurance to run the race that has been set before me, with my eyes on nothing else but Jesus and sharing Jesus with a hurting world.
Are you with me – are you willing to seek deliverance, bring hope into our lives and share it with others. Willing to seek God’s direction – and actually mean when we pray “Thy Will Be Done”.
Oh God once again I am praying “I want you to intervene in everything”. As I stand amazed and seek to follow with my whole heart, mind, and being.
Thanks for being on a journey with me and I look forward to our times of holy conversations, prayer, and seeking God’s will together for our lives, the church, the community, and all things all the time –
To God Be the Glory,
Pastor Calvin Cook
