Are Your Ears Tingling

Scripture: 1 Samuel 3:10-11 And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.” 11 Then the Lord said to Samuel, “Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which the two ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.

The story of Samuel’s call in in 1 Samuel 3 is a message that we need to hear today and ponder on how it speaks to us today.

The jist of it being that the Lord was calling out to Samuel. Samuel didn’t recognize God’s voice at first, he thought it was Eli calling out to him. However through the guidance of Eli, Samuel heard the call the third time and answered. Most times just hearing and recognizing God’s call will change our situation and our life. Often referred to as answering the call, it is an openness to make yourself available.

The message we hear when God speaks as it was in Samuel’s case is not one we often want to hear. Samuel pondered the word he received before sharing with it Eli for fear of Eli’s reaction. Is that why we hesitate the message of God calling the whole world to plenteous redemption because we are afraid of what others will think, how they will respond, and what they will say to us or about us.

Friends, I just want to say – today – God is speaking and is speaking through a variety of ways. Now the question is how we will respond. Will we share or are we so self-observed in our own ways that we can’t hear and it doesn’t matter anyhow we aren’t going to share the word anyway.

Today – I encourage you to experience how God is moving and to seek the direction of the Lord in all you do. Embrace the response of Samuel “speak Lord for your servant is listening.” Get ready because when God speaks your ears will tingle.

Prayer: Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening. I am ready to hear whatever You say. Amen
