Did God Bring Me to This Place? Are we in the place we need to be with God?

Did God Bring Me to This Place?

Scripture Focus – Genesis 45:7–8 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. 8 “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.

I really wanted to write about redemption today. I have been thinking continuously about many different tenants of our faith that seem to get set aside or lost in shuffle of what the next situation is that must be addressed. One of those that I have been spending a great deal of time thinking and praying about is redemption.
However, this morning – the Holy Spirit has planted some other thoughts in my mind to pray through. Though we can’t answer the questions in a few short paragraphs, we can be open in our day to day lives considering these important questions that I am sure we ask

Who am I really? Why am I where I am? – and – Do I truly desire a close relationship with God?

There are times in life when we look around at where we are—whether in a place of blessing, resting, waiting, or even suffering—and we ask, “How did I get here? Did God really bring me to this place?”

I have asked that question over the last 10 years regularly. When Gail and I moved to Kane in 2016 we were very happy where we were. We relented, questioned, even challenged our move here but during it, though many days we didn’t like it, especially in the middle of January, we have felt our call here lived out on a daily basis. Especially now we are experiencing a great move of the Holy Spirit being received which I believe will continue.

In the scripture I shared this morning, we are right smack dab in the middle of the life of Joseph Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned, surely had moments when he wrestled with the same question: “What am I doing here?” Yet, as he stood before his brothers years later, holding the power to either destroy or deliver them, Joseph realized that the path he had traveled was no accident. What seemed like detours, disappointments, and disasters were actually steps ordered by the Lord.

Though living into God’s is the purpose in all of our lives, there is still the Why question? There is always, purpose and reason within God’s plan, whether we can or want to see it.

In your life and in the same way, the place you find yourself today is not beyond God’s awareness. Whether it feels like a wilderness, a waiting room, or a wide-open door, God has either placed you there for a purpose or will use your circumstances to fulfill His greater plan. If you allow it !

On this Labor Day may we spend time in prayer, supplication, and listening to God’s call on our lives. May we always be reminded through God’s promise and covenant that God will always be with us. Receive that power and authority today in the mighty name of Jesus.
