Is God Calling You to a Deeper Prayer Life –

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Jeremiah 33:3

Is God calling us into a deeper prayer life and better understanding of what prayer is? The scripture from Jeremiah 33 is spoken to the heart of Jeremiah amidst some very un-settling times. Jeremiah was in prison, the people of Israel had turned against God, there was enemies crushing in from every angle. Yet God was assuring the people that He would keep the covenant that had been made through David.

We might be feeling much the same way in the conditions of the present day. Feeling oppression and all the strife, we are finding ourselves in – God is still reminding us of the covenant that has been made to all of us. Much of this understanding I believe will be gained by returning to God through prayer.

Through all of this God’s open invitation, a reminder that He desires to speak with us, to guide us, and to reveal His good and perfect plans. We will realize this in our times of seeking God through prayer.

Prayer is not just a moments reflection in the morning or before meals – it is a divine invitation to draw near, commune with Him, and to find strength, wisdom and peace in His presence. Prayer is not optional; it is the lifeline of our faith.

I believe we are being called to a deeper prayer life, as churches, publicly, privately, in small intimate gatherings, as couples, as families and even with strangers. The reason being that this is what will align our hearts with God. Not just as we go through the litany of our concerns but listen through His voice, His word contained in scripture, and through His anointed – the prophets, teachers, preachers, evangelist, and prayer warriors of our present day.
In this deeper prayer life, we will discover that it is more than our needs being met but instead God’s desires being met through us.

Prayer will become more about changing God’s mind and more about the changing of our minds conforming to God’s good and perfect will.

I believe God’s call to deeper prayer is not just for pastors, leaders, or those who seem to be super-spiritual, but for those who are desiring more of God, to be renewed, to follow closer than you ever have before.
