Lenten Devotionals By Us and For Us

Read Ephesians 2:11-22

I really enjoy seeing big old churches. The stained-glass windows, intricate woodworking, beautiful paintings and decorative symbolic pieces. When I’ve had the opportunity to sit in the pew, there is a sense of sacredness, belonging and peace.

In our reading today that is the picture that came to mind. Each piece of God’s Holy Temple shows off His craftmanship. He created us individually to become a dwelling in which He lives by His Spirit (The Holy Spirit).

His Temple is filled with different nationalities, personalities, vocations and gifts. In that uniqueness and diversity ALL were created to worship ONE GOD lead by ONE HOLY SPIRIT. JESUS gave His life on the cross to abolish all the regulations and commands that separated us. His goal was to bring us together as one, in peace. Peace with God and peace with each other. To build each other up and work together to grow His Temple. No one is insignificant in the Temple! His Temple is beyond our imagination in size and craftsmanship, built on the love of Jesus (the cornerstone) and His followers that came before us.

Prayer: God, open our eyes to see Your Temple, to accept others as they are, realizing You created them uniquely for their role. Show us how to live in peace. Amen

Action step: Who do you need to make peace with today?
