From the Edges – A Prayer for Others!

Morning Devotions – April 8, 2024 –
From the Edges – Pastor Calvin Cook

Scripture focus – 2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

I believe one of our main purposes in life is to build each other up. To establish a lifestyle where we are sharing the hope that is found in Jesus with all people. We hear of people that are going through extensive trials while at the same time trying to keep their faith. Trying to grow in their faith to receive and be the person created God has created us all to be.

In the opening verses of 3 John, the Apostle John is sending a greeting of love, hope, and encouragement to his friend Gaius. There is also an eagerness and excitement by John to tell everyone about Jesus. One of the greatest messages that is shared is to be the example of those who share God’s love with others.

This letter is believed to have been written in a very desperate time in history when Christians are facing terrible persecution by the Roman emperor. Yet, by John’s example and his writing there is a call and a prayer to be encouraged by the presence of God through the Holy Spirit to be at work. I pause this morning to ask the question, “How are we encouraging others in the faith.?” “How are we living examples of God’s at work within us?”

I would like to encourage you to read this morning to read 3 John, to pray the scripture especially verses 2 for someone else. Think now of the one who is struggling in their faith, to walk uprightly in all that they are going through, but more importantly that they experience in a very real way good health and uplifting of their soul.

Here is the simple prayer – Lord today I pray for (insert name) that they may experience good health, and that it goes well for their soul. I pray that Jesus is revealed in every way possible today, by the power of Jesus I pray. Amen

Please know I will be praying this prayer for you. May we start a prayer revolution of hope for each other.
