Scripture : Luke 24:44-49

This morning while reading and thinking upon the words and teaching from scripture about how after Jesus appeared to His followers, they seemed to withdraw. Whether it be back into the Upper Room, to walk along the Road to Emmaus, at the Lake Shore. There seems to be a lot of assumption as to why.

This morning while reading in Luke 24 – I was once again captivated by Luke 24:49 “I (Jesus) am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

While meditating on this scripture this morning – my morning play list including “Here Again” by Elevation Worship was playing to set the tone for my morning time with God. The words of the first verse and chorus broke my concentration like some alarm sounding or a great drawing to an important word that the Holy Spirit was desiring me to hear.

“Can’t go back to the beginning. Can’t control what tomorrow will bring. But I know here in the middle. Is a place where You promise to be”.

We at least I do love the comfortability of returning to shelter, to comfort, to what we know best. But what happens in that sacred place. Do we think only, how our life is effected by normal or what has become normal, what we have been comfortable with. Is it in this place  that we ask what do we do? I believe the early followers of Jesus found comfort in devoting themselves to fellowship of each other. Not just what they wanted someone else to do for them. But with a fellowship that causes spiritual care for each other. A feeling of being devoted to the call that Jesus placed on them and us for that matter. These places of withdrawal were more than shelter, or commiseration of painful feelings. These were and once again need to be places of inspiration and development of our soul to stand firm in faith and trust in what God is doing even when we don’t see it.

The chorus of the song “Here Again” once again rings out right in the middle of these thoughts:

“I’m not enough unless You come, Will You meet me here again. Cause all I want is all You are. Will You meet me here again”

Though these words are not enough to reckon where we really are it should be enough for us to consider – God’s presence through out the ages, today, and into the future will be right where we are. That if we seek God with all our heart, mind, and soul despite where we are or what we are going through we will see that presence of God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The hard part is saying, even praying, even relinquishing control and stepping into being in the place that all we want is what God wants for us, is guiding us to.

Let all this sink in as you pray to stay within the presence of God and to be who you have been created, redeemed, and transformed to be.
