FOLLOWING JESUS FROM THE EDGES
ARE YOU HEARING GOD… OR JUST THE NOISE?

Scripture: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27
Everything is different this morning. Gill and I are away overnight and when I reached for my computer this morning to do the devotional my computer was not there. I left it at home. However,, I have this little thing I carry called a smart phone – let’s see how smart I am as I share my thoughts this morning. God will always make a way.
While thinking on God‘s call in my life, I was drawn to the question. Am I hearing God or am I allowing the noise in the confusion of other things in the world to drowned out what God is trying to say to me.
There are a lot of voices in our world right now.
Opinions. Headlines. Social media. Fear. Pressure. Even our own thoughts.
And if we’re not careful, we can start responding to the loudest voice… instead of the right voice.
So here’s the honest question:
Are you hearing God… or just the noise?
God’s voice is different.
It doesn’t compete for attention—it calls for relationship. It doesn’t rush—it invites.
It doesn’t confuse—it leads with clarity, even if the path is challenging.
The noise says: panic, prove yourself, keep up, don’t fall behind . God says: come to Me, follow Me, trust Me.
The noise is loud…
but the voice of Jesus is personal.
That’s why Jesus didn’t say, “My people hear about Me.”
He said, “My sheep know My voice.”
That kind of hearing doesn’t happen by accident.
It comes from time spent with Him—
in Scripture,
in prayer,
in stillness.
In our real everyday lives—where life isn’t polished and faith gets real—we have to learn to quiet everything else so we can recognize the One voice that truly matters.
So this morning I’m hearing from God –
Because here is the truth it is this:
Whatever voice you listen to… will shape the direction you follow.
So today—pause.
Turn down the noise.
Lean in.
He’s still speaking.
The question is…
are you listening?
