Following Jesus From the Edges
UNWRITTEN PAGES

Scripture: “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” John 21:25 (NIV)
Over the last couple days, I have been drawn to the closing verse of the Gospel of John. It seemed captivating to me. While considering this verse and praying through it, I want to take a few minutes to center my thoughts on it in prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit.
John doesn’t end his Gospel with a conclusion; he leaves us with a wondering for more. A reminder that what we see recorded is only a glimpse of what Jesus has done. The pages we hold in Scripture are sacred, a convicting reminder of God’s goodness and grace but that there is so much more to consider without being exhausted, rebellious, or doubtful.
That consideration pauses me.
Because if the words written in the pages of scripture, the historical account of those who followed Jesus closely and knew Jesus intimately in person could not contain the full account of what Jesus has done. Then how much of His work in my life has gone unwritten, unnoticed, even unacknowledged?
We often look for the big miracles, the dramatic moments, the clear answers to prayer. But what about the quiet, unseen movements of Christ that have carried us all along?
Take a moment and consider…
That God was so in love with you and cared so much for you that Jesus was sent to be a sacrifice for you. Giving up his life of splendor and glory in heaven.
The times He protected you from what you never saw coming
The moments He redirected your path when you thought you knew best
The prayers He answered differently than you asked—but exactly how you needed
The strength He gave you to endure when quitting seemed easier
The conviction that pulls you back when your heart, mind and even your soul drifts off.
The people He placed in your life at just the right time
The doors He closed that would have led to harm
The peace He whispered into your spirit in the middle of chaos
The grace He extended when you didn’t deserve another chance
The love He never withdrew, even when you walked at a distance
These are the unwritten pages, not all of them, but in the quiet unwritten pages of my life desperately a time to seek forgiveness, desire redemption, and make a promise to do better.
How must Jesus feel about our human, earthly, carnal lives where and when we choose other ways, mindsets, place other things before Him, and live a my way with my agenda kind of life.
John testified to what he saw, but what about my/our life/lives. Is your life testifying to what Jesus is still doing. Every step, every season, every struggle and restoration is another page in the history of our personal relationship with God. How God’s grace is at work, even when I don’t know it or see it.
So, the question becomes: What are the pages of your life revealing to you? The need for recognition of that Holy presence. Do they tell a story of my way is better, or surrender? Of fear… or faith? Of holding on… or being held by Christ? Maybe today is less about writing something new and more about recognizing what’s already been written.
In this intimate and quiet time with Jesus this morning. I turning through the pages of my personal story, I am pausing to reflect and remember. Because the pages of the Jesus who is part of my story is wanting to do much more, be much more, and show a much better way.
This is where my understanding of grace and understanding begins ……….
And yet there is a new page to be written today may we all be aware of this great love of God, the presence, the power, and the authority to Know, Grow, and Go in the mighty name of Jesus.
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to the things You’ve done that I’ve overlooked. Help me to see Your hand not only in the extraordinary, but in the everyday moments of my life. Let my story reflect Your grace, Your truth, and Your presence. And as You continue to write, teach me to trust the Author. Amen.
