Jesus Saves

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12
There are two simple words that have echoed through generations of believers, appeared on church signs, been painted on barns, sung in revival meetings, whispered beside hospital beds, and proclaimed from pulpits around the world:
JESUS SAVES
Those words are not just a slogan. They are the heartbeat of the gospel!
Tuesday night after Vacation Bible School, we stepped into Sheetz for a snack and cold drink. As I waited – I watched as a young man I would say in his late teens early twenties came in and walked very confidently across the store. I was immediately drawn to him because of his hoodie. On the front in big bold black letters was “JESUS SAVES”. As he turned the back of the hoodie said, “By No other Name” – “ONLY JESUS”.
I am always excited to see people live their faith by what they wear and the message they carry. I approached and said – “I love your hoodie !” The young man beamed and thanked me and said “I love Jesus – and just want to be a walking billboard, because Jesus loved me so much He would die for my sins.” I was wearing a VBS t-shirt that spoke of Jesus being the light of the world. He said “Your shirt is great to”. The young man told me that he and his family were passing through, they were from Virginia and were on vacation. I didn’t catch his name but his witness spoke volumes and I have prayed for this young man and others of all ages that are standing firm to say “JESUS SAVES.”
When Peter stood before the religious leaders in Acts 4, he did not point people toward a church, a denomination, or a better way of living. He pointed them to Jesus. His declaration was bold and unmistakable: “There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” The answer to humanity’s greatest need has always been, and always will be, Jesus.
Throughout Acts we watch this message spread like wildfire. On the Day of Pentecost, Peter preached Christ crucified and risen. Three thousand people believed and were saved. In Samaria, in the wilderness with the Ethiopian, in Philippi with the jailer, in Athens, and in the Roman prison, the message never changed.
JESUS SAVES.
A line from an old hymn I remember captures it beautifully:
“We have heard the joyful sound: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!”
Spread the tidings all around: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!”
That hymn is more than some revival song that is years old. It is a reminder of the mission Christ has given His Church. We are not called simply to gather, to maintain traditions, or to preserve buildings. We are called to spread the joyful sound that forgiveness is available, hope is alive, chains can be broken, lives can be transformed, and eternal life is offered through Jesus Christ.
Our world is searching for answers in politics, wealth, success, entertainment, and countless other places. Yet the greatest need of every human heart remains unchanged.
We as followers of Christ still have the greatest news to share that much of the world has never heard and is simply “JESUS SAVES”
May those two words become more than something we sing. May they become the message we live, the hope we share with our neighbors, the comfort we offer the broken, and the testimony that shapes our lives every day.
Remember from Acts 3 when we have nothing physical to offer, we can offer JESUS.
Today, ask yourself: Who needs to hear from me that Jesus saves? Then, with kindness, humility, and courage, go and tell!
JESUS SAVES
